Come to our Lunch and Learn series “MED instead of Meds” beginning this holiday season to explore the seven simple steps to eating the Mediterranean Way. This is a six-part weekly series that runs the first three Thursdays in December and follows the first three Thursdays in January. Virginia Lopez of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension will be our presenter. A cooking demonstration by Forsyth County's Chef Floyd Davis will be part of each session. In honor of the Geminids Meteor Shower (Dec. 7-17), come learn about meteoroids, comets, and asteroids from Annette Horsley, NASA Solar System Ambassador. This will be an in-person outdoors program (weather permitting) at Shallowford Square Park on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 4-5 p.m. Recommended for ages 5-11 years old. Your library challenges you to read a variety of books throughout the year. Complete the reading challenge, which encourages readers to step into a wide variety of stories and genres. Forms are available at the Lewisville Branch or you can click the webstory for a printable copy. When you finish, please submit your form to the Lewisville Branch Library by Friday, Dec. 10 to be entered in the drawing for a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. The library will reopen its meeting rooms to the public on Monday, Nov. 15 with a new reservation system. FCPL asks customers to continue to observe county guidelines by wearing masks when using meeting rooms, regardless of their vaccination status. Customers who want to reserve meeting rooms will need to call the location where they plan to hold their meeting.
Do you love to knit, crochet, embroider or do another kind of hand-stitching craft? If so, come along to the Lewisville Branch the first Wednesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. for our monthly gathering of the Hook & Loop Group. The Alliance Book Club is a library book club dedicated to reading and discussing books by and/or about members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The next meeting will be Saturday, November 20 at 11 a.m. While the club meets virtually via Zoom, registration is required.
